More (Atlanta, Georgia) – November 30, 2018 – SisterLove, Inc. has teamed up with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Atlanta Suburban Alumnae Chapter to commemorate the 30th year for World AIDS Day with a showcase of local artists on Friday, November 30, at the MotherHouse located at 1237 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd, SW. The Act Up, Speak Out: Artist Showcase will spotlight some of Atlanta’s top spoken-word talent and other artists expressing advocacy to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic through the arts. The event is from 5-9 p.m. and open to the public at no cost. Free HIV and STD testing will also be available at the MotherHouse beginning at 10am until 9pm with no appointment necessary. World AIDS Day officially kicks off on December 1 and is recognized around the globe. This year’s theme, “Know Your Status” is significant because although progress has been made in the AIDS response since 1988, according to the latest UNAIDS report, one of the barriers that still remains is reaching people living with HIV who do not know their status. Knowing one’s status is key to ensure that they are linked to quality care and prevention services so they can protect themselves and their loved ones.
